Get these if you have a gorilla pod and you are:
a) forgetful, and lose small things
b) in possession of multiple point and shoot cameras
In reality, I don’t see the need to ever take the clip off of the camera once you put it on. It is very small, less than 3mm profile when attached to the camera, so it will more than likely still fit in your case when it is attached.
With the SD1000, the memory/battery compartment can still be opened far enough to remove either when this is attached.

I received my Gorillapod as a gift and left the quick release clip that comes with it out on my desk. My cat found the clip and hid it somewhere… I bought a pack of replacement clips and can now use my Gorillapod. So, if you have more than one camera you want to connect your Gorillapod to, or if you tend to lose small objects easily, go ahead and get a pack of these replacements.

I agree with “Vines’ ” review wholeheartedly. The clip is handy and a nice feature for the small gorillapod (although the release mechanism on the tripod itself is a bit chincy). I don’t see too much reason, though, to buy this product unless you have multiple compact point-and-shoot cameras.
I use mine on a Samsung nv15 and haven’t used it on any other camera body. So ultimately, I have had mine for over a year now, and haven’t used either of the extra clips yet. The only reasons I can think to take off the clip are: if your camera case is extremely tight-fitting, or you are putting your camera in your pant pocket often (the clip is very small and pretty unobtrusive, and may get only slightly annoying in a tight form-fitting pant pocket).
So consider getting these if you may lose the original that comes with the gorillapod, if you have a second camera, or you just want your buddies to have quick access to your gorillapod.

Look, you’re going to lose the one that comes with the GP1 – so get these (2 in a pack). They’re cheap, you can leave them on most digital cameras without them getting in the way, and having one on each camera makes hooking up with the GP1 quick and easy. If you have a gorillapod, a pack of these is a must have. Be sure you have a GP1 though – or they won’t fit.

This little tripod works great, and is very easy to attach, as long as you have a footpad for each of your cameras! Very versatile and easy to use!
