Unit features choice of either Auto Pan Mode or Remote Control. The Auto Pan mode allows continuous horizontal panning motion of +/- 30Y, +/- 60Y, or =/- 90Y set by selector switch. Remote operation is by a detachable remote control unit, included, with a 3 foot cord.The remote unit has a four way direction control button to activate right/left pan motion up to 90 degrees each way, as well as up/down tilt motion to +/- 15Y maximum. A Variable Speed control on the remote allows continuos speed adjustment for horizontal panning and vertical tilt movements. Power is provided by AA batteries, not included. The unit measures 53+4 x 41+2 x 4″ in size and weighs 27 ounces. The Power Pan Head accepts cameras with a maximum weight of six pounds.

This motorized pan head does a very nice job. The movement is smooth in both the horizontal and vertical movements. I have seen no jerking motion when it stops and then continues. The only concern is the vertical motion motor generates more noise then the horizontal motor. I am using a Sony DCR-HC90 which has a very sensitive mike. This should not present a real problem if the recording sound is at a normal level. The head works well on both batteries and an AC adapter. I am satisfied with the performance of this motorized Pan Head and would recommend it to anyone need such a device.

I recommend this product 100%. It has made a world of difference with my video. I use to get about 50% or less of usable video with my tripod now I get over 90%.

Only buy this if you have a strong tripod – you’ll need it. But otherwise, this does a really nice job. It has both fixed and panning modes – I was surprised how useful the latter is for movies.
