This D3000 kit has everything you need to get started with DSLR photography. I bought it as my first DSL and I’m very happy with it. For the price, not only do you get the camera cheaper than that currently listed at Best Buy, but you also get the 16GB memory card and case, both retail for about $30. I’ve reviewed each item below as they are listed above.
< #1>: This is a great starter camera. I suggest you read the reviews on the main Amazon D3000 product page.
< #2>: I highly recommend this 16GB card. On the highest JPEG setting I can take just over 2,000+ pictures. On the RAW setting I believe it takes around 1,000+.
< #3>: This battery is not a Nikon brand battery, but it works just as well, especially for a spare.
< #4>: The camera case is durable and has Velcro compartments that allow you to customize the layout. I configured mine so both my DSLR and point-and-shoot fit perfectly.
< #5>: The D3000 comes with a connector cable so you can plug your computer into your camera to download pictures. I still find it helpful to use this card reader though. All card readers are fairly basic and this one does its job.
< #6>: I’m not a big fan of the memory card wallet. It’s just a leather pouch large enough to hold a few cards. But with your 16GB card, will you really need any more memory cards for this camera?
< #7>: The cleaning kit has all the basics.
< #8>: Luckily I haven’t had the need to use the recovery software, but its good to know I have it in case I ever need it.

the D3000 is an outstanding little camera, and all the nick nacks included are very useful.
you won’t be sorry if you buy this. 16 GB flash card is HUGE, too.

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. He was excited and anxious that he opened it and began using it before Thanksgiving even arrived. He’s had loads of fun exploring this camera and all that it has to offer. I appreciate the timely manner in which the product arrived because it has made a great start to this Holiday season.

Many blogs conclude the D3000 to be a poor-man’s DSLR since it’s a feature-stripped version of other Nikon’s. Although this is true, (I really wish it had auto-bracketing & live preview would be nice) I sincerely love this camera as-is.
I use the 16GB card on my HD video camera and have never needed more than 4GB on the Nikon (even shooting in RAW+fine/large JPG).
I upgraded from my Konica-Minolta Z4 point-and-shoot almost a year ago and I’ve never looked back. For me, price was an issue and the D3000 was the best value. With the money I saved I was able to purchase 2 additional lenses.
The jump in quality, performance, power and flexibility that this camera can do has created in me a thirst for photography. I love the extended range of pictures I can now take with my 35mm portrait and 55-200mm zoom lens.
The D3000 is one of the first Nikon’s with the largest screens as well as Guide mode. If your upgrading from a PNS you’ll appreciate it. However, if you can get a handle around the relationship between ISO, shutter speed, aperture and EV your visual world will change as you know it – plus you’ll get more out of any camera you own.

Great camera if you have perfect vision.
My mistake to buy a camera with only a viewfinder. I wish I could use the video monitor to aim and shoot (due to my poor vision).
